Sutra Films is a new-age film studio making cinematic stories for audiences in India and around the world.
In Indian theatre, the sutradhar is the one who holds the thread: who opens the play, guides the audience and ties the story together.
That is the job we have given ourselves. We make epic dramas, mythology, history and documentary with the latest filmmaking technology and an old storyteller's heart, and we carry those stories from India to the world.
Our own work reaches audiences through three channels: Gods & Kings in English, Mahagatha in Hindi and Unsealed for declassified history. For brands and companies, we make brand films, commercials and corporate films with the same craft.

Five rules for every film
Sources first
No script before research. The texts, records and books behind a film are named in its description.
People make the film
Generative tools make images and voices. Research, writing, direction, editing and every final decision belong to people.
Reverence and accuracy
Gods are drawn as the texts describe them. History is told as the record shows it, with reconstructions labelled.
Fewer, better shots
We hold on a good frame and cut a flawed one. Faces and costumes stay consistent from the first shot to the last.
No fakes of real people
We never make realistic depictions of living public figures, and we disclose synthetic content on every platform.
